Geneva Walking Tour
Rebellious Geneva:
In the Footsteps of Feminist and Queer Struggles
About the Walking Tour
Journey beyond Geneva's pristine façade and discover the city's rich history of activism, political mobilization, and social change. This guided tour will take you through emblematic locations in Geneva's old town and city center, uncovering the feminist and queer political struggles that have shaped its cultural and political landscape over centuries.
This experience is an invitation to rediscover Geneva’s familiar sights through a different lens. From witch hunts and sex workers’ activism to women’s suffrage and LGBTQIA+ mobilization, this tour traces the vibrant legacy of resistance that often goes unseen.
The tour creates a reflective space where participants are encouraged to question their assumptions and can engage in collective, critical dialogue. Through learning about Geneva’s invisibilized histories, participants are invited to connect with their capacities for curiosity and empathy as first steps towards meaningful social change.
